Prime Minister of India, S. Manmohan Singh today visited Harmandir Sahib to offer thanks giving prayers after his successful recovery from recent heart bypass surgery. Prime Minister arrived at around 6 AM in the morning and listened to Keertan for around 40 minutes. He was accompanied by his wife Mrs Gursharan Kaur.

SGPC President S. Avtar Singh Makkar accompanied him on his visit to the holy shrine. Mr. Singh was offered Siropao by Giani Gurbachan Singh Ji, Jathedar Akal Takhat Sahib.

This was a personal visit of Prime Minister after his successful recovery from Bypass surgery. He arrived in Amritsar on Monday evening. After visiting Golden Temple, he went to Durgiana Temple at Amritsar and then visited his family settled at Amritsar.
