Thursday, August 27th, 2015
The religion based census conducted by Indian Government shows that growth of Sikh population has decreased by 0.2%. Government of India released religion based census data earlier this week which depicts growth rate of population of various religions with all other religion population having same or positive growth rate but growth rate of Sikhs has decreased in the last decade.
Jathedar of Akal Takhat Sahib Giani Gurbachan Singh said it is a serious issue that growth rate of Sikh population has decreased. He said that it is necessary to promote the Sikh community in other states. The main reason behind this issue is that mostly Sikhs are going abroad permanently and the other reason is less promotion of sikh religion and lesser facility provide for backward caste people.
